Heavy Equipment Mechanics
Troubleshoot and repair all types of heavy equipment and trucks.
Operate equipment to diagnose problems and inspect equipment for
defects. Weld and fabricate parts and equipment.
Project Foreman
Supervises and coordinates the work activities of workers on asphalt or
construction projects; coordinates trucks, traffic control, and safety
needs of project. Completes reports and ensures contract compliance.
Dispatches company drivers and contract drivers to best ensure
efficient equipment movement.
Shop Foreman
Oversee heavy equipment mechanics. Order parts, maintain and track part
and tool inventory. Maintain fleet documents and records. Dispatch
heavy equipment moving trucks. File daily vehicle inspection reports.
Organize annual DOT inspections and file reports.

Belly Dump, Live Bottom and End Dump Truck Drivers
Maintains, services and operates trucks used in hauling and applying
aggregates and asphalt on roads and construction sites; requires a
valid CDL-Class A/B and clean MVR.

Supervises and coordinates the work activities of workers engaged in
spreading, rolling and tamping asphalt on construction projects;
coordinates trucks, traffic control, and safety needs of project.

Operates and maintains asphalt paving machine to spread and level paving material on highways and streets.

Paving Laborers
Operates small equipment; shovels and rakes asphalt; places string line
and temporary lane markers; assists with plant moves, temporary
flagging, dumping trucks and clean up on paving machine.

Screed Operators
Operates and maintains screed on paving machine; Monitors and adjusts
machine to control flow of materials according to project
specifications; assists with shoveling and clean up of screed and
paving machine.

Flag Persons
Controls flow of traffic through construction work zone; sets up signs,
cones and barrels according to project specifications; communicates
with and explains traffic delays with the public.
Pilot Car Drivers
Controls flow of traffic through construction work zone by leading
public vehicles through the worksite during projects that have only one
lane open for opposing traffic flows.
Crusher Operators
Monitors and adjusts machines and conveyors to control the flow of
aggregate materials; oversees the service, maintenance and operations
of the crushing/screening plant; completes daily maintenance and
inspections of the crushing/screening plant; understands the type and
quality of aggregates being produced
Loader Operators
Operates, services and maintains loaders used in aggregate and
bituminous production; maintains crusher/asphalt plant hopper levels to
achieve production specifications; maintains stockpiles and pit floor;
loads trucks; assists with shoveling around plant and maintaining plant
equipment.

Motor Grader Operators
Maintains, services and operates motor grader used to spread gravel
base or shouldering material, shape and finish slopes and shoulders.
May be designated finish blade operator.

Dozer Operators
Maintains, services and operates dozer to mine aggregate materials;
push up stockpiles including sand, recycled milled materials, and
aggregates; operates dozer to clear and grub work sites, cut grades and
slopes. May be designated finish dozer operator.

Track hoe/Backhoe Operators
Maintains, services and operates track hoe/backhoe to
excavate or move dirt, rock, sand and other minerals; may operate
mining machinery, such as a crusher.
Director of Safety and Compliance
Monitors safety programs and trainings; maintains
compliance with DOT, EPA, MPCA, OSHA and MSHA permits and regulations;
conducts accident investigations; overseas workers compensation claims
and the return to work program; facilitates insurance claims; completes
work site inspections and evaluations; completes interviews, hiring and
maintenance of personnel files; monitors the drug and alcohol program;
maintains inventory and distribution of personal protective equipment;
completes investigations for all sexual harassment claims.

Grading Superintendents and Supervisors
Supervises and coordinates the work activities of
workers engaged in excavating and grading right-of-way for construction
projects, such as highways, streets, and drainage ditches.
Directs work crews engaged in operating vehicles and machines to dump,
scrape and spread dirt.
Bituminous Plant Operator
Monitors and adjusts machines and conveyors to control the flow of
materials; oversees the maintenance and operations of the plant;
completes daily maintenance and inspections of the bituminous plant;
understands the type and quality of materials being produced.
Oiler
Completes daily service requirements of the bituminous plant; inspects
plant for preventative maintenance issues; transfer of AC and burner
fuel from tankers to storage tanks; monitors inventory of storage
tanks; reports to the bituminous plant operator.
Tester
Collects samples from various job sites and pit locations; completes
necessary testing to insure compliance with project specifications.
